Upload a custom wrap with the Tesla app

Prepare a compatible PNG, preview the mapped panels and keep USB installation as a fallback.

Confirm the app and vehicle first

Use the current Tesla App and make sure the Custom Wrap or Paint Shop upload control is available for the selected vehicle. A staged software rollout can mean the menu appears on one vehicle before another. If the upload control is missing, update the app and vehicle software, then use the USB method instead of repeatedly changing a valid PNG.

Prepare the PNG

Export a square Paint Shop image between 512 and 1024 pixels. Keep the file below 1 MB and use a simple filename.

Use a safe filename and file count

Keep the filename at 30 characters or fewer and use letters, numbers, spaces, underscores, or hyphens. Avoid emoji and punctuation that may not be accepted by the vehicle. Store no more than ten custom wrap PNG files in the upload set. These small checks prevent a correctly designed image from being rejected before preview.

Upload and select the matching vehicle

Open Paint Shop in the Tesla App, choose the vehicle, and select the exported PNG. If you own more than one Tesla, verify that the active vehicle matches the template used in the editor. Wait for the preview to finish loading before deciding whether the artwork is aligned.

Preview every panel

Inspect the hood, doors, bumpers and roof before applying. Return to the editor when text or graphics cross a seam unexpectedly.

Use USB when mobile upload is unavailable

Format a USB drive with a supported filesystem, create a Wraps folder at the root, and copy the PNG into it. Connect the drive to the vehicle and open Toybox, Paint Shop, then Wraps. The same model-specific template and file limits apply, so USB is a different transfer method rather than a way around compatibility rules.
